Why this one
  • Eight shower steamers to a box
  • Each is sodium bicarbonate and citric acid pressed with menthol crystals, French green clay, spirulina, distilled water, and eucalyptus and peppermint essential oils
  • The clay and spirulina do double duty; they're what tint the tablet green
  • Shower only, not a bath bomb, and keep the box dry between uses.
Overview

This is a fizzing shower tablet, not a bath bomb: eucalyptus and peppermint essential oils pressed into a bicarbonate-and-citric-acid base, tinted green with French clay and spirulina. Set one on the shower floor, out of the direct spray, and the water works on it slowly, so the cool, sharp scent rises with the steam and stays in the room after you turn the water off. Eight to a box: one for each weekday morning, the sharp green scent standing in for the coffee you haven't made yet. Cool and clean is the whole point; save the florals for the evening steamer instead.

How to use

Set one steamer on the shower floor, back corner, out of the direct stream. Turn the water warm and let the edge catch the splash. It fizzes slowly and sends the cool, sharp scent up into the steam. One steamer per shower. Keep the box dry and closed between uses.

What’s in it

What’s pressed in.

A shower steamer is a fizzing tablet — a bicarbonate-and-citric-acid base that reacts with water, carrying the essential oil up on the steam instead of into the bath.

  • Eucalyptus Essential Oil

    the lead

The cool, green top the steamer opens on, the note that fills the stall first.

  • Peppermint & Menthol

    the edge

The cold-air snap under the eucalyptus. A sharp, minty lift, not a sweet one.

  • French Green Clay & Spirulina

    the base

A mineral clay and a green algae pressed into the tablet: what tints it green and holds its shape until the water hits.

Straight answer

Bath or shower: which is this?

Shower only. It isn’t a bath bomb. A steamer sits on the shower floor and reacts with the splash and the steam, so the cool eucalyptus scent rises around you while you wash. Drop it in a bath and you’d just get a small fizz and a tinted tub. Set it out of the direct stream so it lasts the length of the shower instead of dissolving in one rush.

The ritual

How to use it

  1. Floor, not the stream

Set it in a back corner of the shower floor, off to the side. The splash should reach it, not the full spray.

  2. Let it fizz slowly

Warm water, a little at a time. It fizzes over a few minutes and lifts the cool, sharp scent into the steam.

  3. Close the door

Pull the curtain or door so the steam holds in the stall and the scent stays with you.

Questions

Everything you might wonder.

Does this really clear a stuffy nose, or is that just the scent talking?

Mostly the scent. What it gives you is the cool, sharp hit of eucalyptus and peppermint rising through the steam, a bright, clean note rather than a medical treatment. If it's real congestion, that's a doctor's job, not a shower tablet's.

Will the green tint stain my shower floor?

No. French green clay and spirulina give the tablet its color, and both rinse away with normal use.

Is it safe for sensitive skin or during pregnancy?

Eucalyptus, peppermint, and menthol crystals, no synthetic fragrance. Patch-test first if you're reactive to any of the three, and check with your provider if you're pregnant or nursing.

How many showers does a box cover?

Eight steamers, one per shower, so about two weeks if you use it most mornings. Keep the box dry and closed so the rest stay potent.
