Overview
Seven in the morning, warm water running, the bar turning in your hands. The lather comes up gold, the colour of the turmeric in it, with tiny flecks of ground oatmeal and a scent that starts with orange and settles into honey. It's a small thing to start a day with, and it makes the sink the good part of the morning.
Afterwards skin feels soft and clean, comfortable rather than tight. That comes from the base: shea butter with coconut, canola, soybean, olive pomace and sunflower oils, made the cold-process way, which keeps the glycerin in the bar. The oatmeal gives the lather a little body; it isn't a scrub.
Turmeric has been part of kitchens and bridal mornings in India for generations; we put it in a soap bar. As a gift, the colour does half the work: a gold bar in its own box drops into a stocking, two make a small present, and beside our Citrus Grapefruit candle it becomes a morning set.
How to use
Wet the bar, work up a lather between your hands or on a washcloth, and wash. Rinse within a minute or two. Between washes, keep it on a dish that drains so the bar stays firm.

- It's sold as a body bar. Keep the lather out of your eyes.

The scent comes from a fragrance, and part of the gold from a colorant, both on the list beside the turmeric. Lye is how every true soap is made: it reacts with the oils while the soap is made, and none is left in the finished bar. Contains honey.

Will the turmeric stain?
It can, if you leave it. Turmeric colours what it touches, and a wet bar sitting on a white towel, pale grout or a light counter can pick up a gold mark. With normal use it's easy to manage: rinse skin within a minute or two of lathering, keep the bar on a draining dish away from light fabric, and reach for a darker washcloth. We'd rather you know before it arrives.

Does turmeric soap stain skin or towels?
It can, which is why we say so up front. The gold is real turmeric with a colorant, and a wet bar left on a light towel, grout or a pale counter can mark it. Rinse skin within a minute or two of lathering, keep the bar on a draining dish away from light fabric, and use a darker washcloth. With that, it's an easy bar to live with.
Is there real turmeric in it, or is it just colour?
Both. Turmeric is on the ingredient list, along with honey and ground oatmeal, and so is a colorant: the two together make the gold. The full list is in the Ingredients panel on this page.
Does it have kojic acid or an acid peel in it?
No. There's no kojic acid, no retinol, no vitamin C and no acid peel in this bar. It's turmeric, honey and ground oatmeal in a cold-process bar made on shea butter and plant oils, and every ingredient is listed on this page.
What does turmeric soap smell like, warm and spicy or citrus?
Orange first, then a warm oatmeal note, with honey rounding it off. Sweet but not loud: more a morning kitchen than a spice jar.
Will the turmeric or oatmeal make it feel gritty or scrubby?
No. The oatmeal is there for a very light texture, not a scrub, so it lathers smooth rather than grainy. If you want an actual exfoliating bar, the lemon zest scrub bar is the one built for that.
